Paleo refers to unprocessed, unrefined foods that are as close to nature as possible.
Paleo is, to some, considered difficult because of the amounts of processed foods that are consumed in this country, but the desire has to be there for you to start ANY lifestyle. You have to at least WANT to do it!
Paleo is a lifestyle that centers around the following principles:
1. No grains
2. No refined sources of sugar
3. No modern vegetable oils
4. Only high-quality meat, fish and eggs
5. Fruits and vegetables
Now, at a glance, it looks like this diet may not be fun. The truth is, it can be quite tasty, BUT REQUIRES PLANNING AND DILIGENCE. It does not leave room for convenience foods, so that is always tough. In this sense, it is very important to remember that not all meat is created equal. High quality pastured and grass-fed (beef) meat and other protein sources are of the utmost importance. It’s what makes the difference between healthy fat and an unhealthy fat. Pastured and humanely raised meat contains omega-3 and CLA which promotes health in a BIG way. The less processing, the better the product.
